Geology and geotechnics

Studies, analysis, and modelling of plots of land

Anufra’s team is specialised in the study, analysis, and modelling of plots of land, which allows us to provide support and real solutions in engineering, civil works, and private projects. Our extensive experience in both field and office work endorses us in a very important sector that impacts others.

GEOLOGICAL MAPPING AND PROFILING

We specialise in creating geological maps at different scales to model the geological units that make up the land, as well as the structures that affect the massif. The use of all surface data, drilling, and geological cross-sections using specialised software generates a three-dimensional model that is representative of the geology of the massif.

Also:

  • Geological cross-sections in any direction and any curvature.
  • Measurement of volume of geological material in order to estimate the profitability of its exploitation.
  • Detailed study of geological formations of special interest (spatial distribution, lithofacies, chemical and physical characteristics, etc.).

GEOTECHNICAL STUDIES FOR CIVIL WORKS

Study of the nature and geomechanical properties of the geotechnical units that make up the terrain, through the preparation of geological surface mapping. This is supplemented with the carrying out of geotechnical and geophysical surveys, the taking of samples for laboratory testing, and the subsequent drafting of the corresponding geotechnical report.

Also:

  •  Geotechnical studies for civil works
  • Drafting of geotechnical appendices for civil works: urban development, roads, railways, tunnels, ports, etc.
  • Delineation and characterisation of former mines that were backfilled and the extent and depth are unknown.
  • Foundation design and calculation of the allowable stresses to be transmitted by the foundations to the ground.
  • Geotechnical surveys and registers.

SLOPE STABILITY

Measurement of the geomechanical parameters that define the ground that makes up the slope and modelling of landslides. In the case of rock, detailed studies of the fracturing of the rock mass using the following techniques: conventional, LIDAR, photogrammetry or georadar, and subsequent 3D processing of the data using specialised software to detect unstable planes.

Also:

  •  Calculation of safety factor for landslides on slopes consisting of soils and rock
  • Model of the spatial distribution of planes of weakness and calculation of the rate of fracturing of the massif, which is useful for excavating tunnels, mining, foundation calculation, slope stability, etc.
  • Plotting the excavation front according to the geological conditions.
  • Proposals for re-excavation and design of protection and support measures.

DESIGN OF GEOTECHNICAL CAMPAIGNS

Design, coordination and supervision by experienced geologists from geological and geotechnical field campaigns in the fields of civil engineering, urban planning, architecture, and others, based on drilling, trial pits, DPSH, CPTU, geophysical surveys, and any other technique that allows us to obtain geotechnical parameters of the terrain.

Also:

  • Drill testing and mechanical and manual trial pits. We supervise geotechnical drilling with continuous monitoring, guaranteeing the quality of the data with meticulous supervision during the construction of the boreholes.
  • Control of field tests (SPT, DPSH, pressure gauges; Lugeon and Lefranc permeability tests; and others).
  • Positioning and analysis of geophysical surveys (tomography, seismic, SEVs, georadar, geophysical prospection, video camera, etc.).
  • Soil and water sampling to determine their physical and chemical properties in the laboratory (expansivity, breakdown, aggressivity, resistance, soil contamination, etc.)

INSTRUMENTATION AND MONITORING

We are able to determine the differences and characteristics of the soil through the use of various instruments, whether for deep excavations, auscultation, or monitoring in the soil or the subsoil. We do this through the use of our own automatic sensors, which are key to reading piezometers, inclinometers, crack monitors, etc.
