Water catchments and supply wells

We work to analyse and develop measures to improve the state and performance of catchments, including their construction, maintenance and decommissioning.

Anufra has a specialised team to advise and study future catchments, to identify and analyse potential problems that could arise with a well and implement maintenance and recovery measures, and to provide support throughout the legalisation and decommissioning process.

Our extensive experience in both field and office work endorses us in a sector that is becoming more and more important. Water catchments, such as wells, require careful design, monitoring, and maintenance in order to identify pathologies and be able to deal with them.

WELL AND PIEZOMETER CONSTRUCTION

We design water catchment projects and supervise their construction, offering end-to-end services, from their design to monitoring during construction, ensuring efficient implementation of groundwater catchment infrastructures, by studying each well’s efficiency and characteristic curve through pumping and laboratory tests.

By assessing the location, performing a scoping study, and visiting the area, we will be able to determine the hydrogeological context, establish the most interesting methodologies to study the subsoil, and identify the best location for a new well. Under certain circumstances, it is highly recommended to carry out a research survey or geophysical study to determine the real possibilities available in the subsoil.

We offer:

  • Consulting and support in the process of applying for and constructing a new well.
  • Hydrogeology of the surveyed area
  • Design of the construction features of the well
  • Borehole system design.
  • Well development monitoring
  • Pumping and recovery tests to identify optimum flow and efficiency curves for the well.
  • Video inspections of new wells.

PUMPING AND RECOVERY TESTS

We design, supervise, and analyse pumping and recovery tests in wells, under the supervision of a hydrogeologist, thereby providing accurate data to evaluate the capacity and efficiency of the well. We coordinate on-site pumping, by designing the pumping system, installing sensors at the requisite observation points, and designing the decanting and dewatering system, to obtain the logs needed for their analysis.
We provide you with:
  • Hydrogeological parameters of the aquifer in the vicinity of the pumping well

– Transmissivity
– Storage coefficient
– Permeability

  • Evaluation of the hydraulic characteristics of the well

Pressure Drop
Optimal Flow Rate
Efficiency
– Current well performance status

VIDEO INSPECTIONS OF NEW WELLS

Live video-inspection and recording of the interior of deep wells to determine their basic characteristics and condition (actual depth, screen sections, and the condition of the casing). We also carry out other measurements inside the well, such as diagraphs of the natural range, water quality assessment, and measurement of the verticality of the well and its diameter.

INVENTORIES AND SAMPLING OF WATER POINTS

Inventory campaigns and sampling of water points;

(1) (1) underground (wells, piezometers, springs, underwater mines)
((2) surface water (rivers, lakes, drains, canals, reservoirs, and dams)
(3) marine (coastal or deep sea).

The campaigns are tailored to the needs of each project, allowing us to obtain the basic characteristics of the sites visited and sampled.

GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS AND REMOTE SENSING FOR HYDROGEOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS

Geophysical surveys and/or remote sensing (indirect techniques) applied to hydrogeology, together with drilling or other direct observation methods, allow us to more accurately determine the most suitable points for water resource exploitation, without having to carry out a large number of boreholes or tests and thereby, reducing costs.

This allows us to:

  • Determine favourable areas for groundwater extraction.
  • Identify the distribution of the geoelectric properties of the soil.
  • Calculate the permeability of the soil.
  • Define the characteristics of aquifers.
